Project Scope

Mawael Environmental Consultancy prepared Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) for the strategic development plans of Matrouh, Red Sea, Ismailia, Port Said, and Suez Governorates on behalf of the General Organization for Physical Planning (GOPP). The assignment integrated environmental sustainability into regional development planning by evaluating the environmental and social implications of proposed land-use plans, urban expansion, infrastructure development, and economic growth scenarios. The work included reviewing existing planning documents, establishing environmental baseline conditions, analyzing development alternatives, assessing cumulative impacts, identifying environmentally sensitive receptors, and incorporating climate resilience and natural resource management considerations into spatial planning processes. The studies provided practical recommendations, mitigation measures, and strategic guidance that strengthened environmental governance, supported sustainable regional development, and improved environmentally informed decision-making across multiple governorates in Egypt.
