Project Scope

Mawael Environmental Consultancy supported the development of the fourth phase of the Enhancement of Ecosystem Services in the Egyptian Protected Areas Programme (EIECP IV) through the preparation of a comprehensive project document for future implementation. The assignment included sector assessments, technical analyses, institutional arrangements, financial planning, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, governance mechanisms, and sustainability strategies in alignment with national conservation priorities, international biodiversity commitments, and donor requirements. The project addressed priority themes including implementation of the IUCN Green List management system, conservation and rehabilitation of Egyptian gazelles, coral reef restoration and protection, sustainable honey production, community-based ecotourism development, food security initiatives, and strengthening protected area management plans. Stakeholder consultations, gender considerations, risk assessments, and results-based management frameworks were integrated throughout the project to establish a robust foundation for long-term biodiversity conservation, ecosystem service enhancement, and sustainable management of Egypt’s protected areas.
