Development of the EU4Nature Concept Note for Biodiversity Conservation and Nature-Based Solutions in Egypt
Development of the EU4Nature Concept Note supporting biodiversity conservation, nature-based solutions, climate resilience, and sustainable development priorities in Egypt.

Project Scope
Mawael Environmental Consultancy supported the preparation of the EU4Nature Concept Note in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to facilitate future European Union investment in biodiversity conservation, nature-based solutions, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods in Egypt. The assignment reviewed Egypt’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP), Egypt Vision 2030, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and existing donor-funded initiatives to identify strategic intervention areas aligned with the European Green Deal and Global Gateway priorities. Stakeholder consultations were undertaken to define priority actions, implementation approaches, expected outcomes, monitoring frameworks, preliminary budgets, and risk management measures. The resulting concept note established a strategic programme framework integrating biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, and sustainable development while supporting future international financing opportunities for Egypt.
