Site Inspection Using ROV for the High Dam, Aswan
ROV-based underwater inspection of the High Dam in Aswan supporting structural integrity assessment, defect identification, and digital asset documentation.

Project Scope
Mawael Environmental Consultancy conducted a comprehensive Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) inspection of selected underwater structures at the High Dam in Aswan on behalf of SEAPRO. The assignment included detailed pre-inspection planning, review of engineering documentation, historical inspection records, hydrological conditions, and risk assessments to ensure safe and efficient deployment. Using a high-definition ROV equipped with imaging and navigation systems, underwater inspections were performed across critical dam components including upstream and downstream faces, spillways, intake towers, outlet works, and submerged structural elements to identify cracks, erosion, cavitation, sediment accumulation, and other structural anomalies. Post-processing activities included photogrammetry, sonar-based interpretation, 3D modelling, comparative analysis with previous inspections, defect classification according to severity, and preparation of a comprehensive inspection report supported by annotated imagery, videos, maintenance recommendations, and a digital archive for future asset monitoring.
