EIA for the Underwater Military Museum, Hurghada
Environmental Impact Assessment for the Underwater Military Museum in Hurghada, supporting artificial reef development, marine biodiversity conservation, and sustainable dive tourism.

Project Scope
Mawael Environmental Consultancy prepared the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Underwater Military Museum in Hurghada to support the environmental permitting process for an innovative marine tourism and conservation initiative. The project assessed the environmental implications of deploying decommissioned military vehicles as artificial reefs across designated dive sites in the Red Sea. The assessment evaluated potential impacts on marine ecology, coral reef ecosystems, water quality, biodiversity, and underwater habitats during installation and long-term operation. It also examined the project’s contribution to reducing visitor pressure on natural coral reefs by creating alternative diving attractions that enhance marine biodiversity and promote sustainable tourism. The study developed mitigation measures, environmental monitoring requirements, and management recommendations to ensure environmentally responsible implementation while supporting marine conservation and eco-tourism objectives.
