Project Scope

Mawael Environmental Consultancy provided technical support for preparing Egypt’s Investment Plan under the Coastal Zone Management Pillar of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) within the NWFE Programme. The assignment focused on developing a climate-resilient investment framework addressing coastal vulnerabilities, including sea-level rise, shoreline erosion, ecosystem degradation, and climate-related risks. The work included policy and institutional reviews, identification and prioritization of investment opportunities, stakeholder consultations, and alignment with Egypt’s National Climate Change Strategy 2050, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and international climate finance objectives. The project promoted nature-based solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation, sustainable livelihoods, and biodiversity conservation while defining investment priorities, financing mechanisms, and implementation frameworks that strengthen Egypt’s coastal resilience and support long-term sustainable development.
